Milwaukee County Jail and Criminal Justice Facility - Milwaukee, Wisconsin

The Milwaukee County Jail, located in downtown Milwaukee, is part of the Milwaukee County Judicial Complex. The high rise pre-trial facility, with a capacity of 1,000 inmates, a 24-bed health care unit, combined city/county booking facility and jail administration staff support space. In addition, the charging unit of the district attorney, four judicial courts and the central intake unit of Wisconsin Correctional Services are located in the complex. As part of the planning process for the new facility, 15 full-size mock-ups of specific areas were constructed and evaluated. The largest, a 48-bed direct supervision housing pod, remained in place for two years and was used for staff training.
